Envision Green: An MSU and LCC Collab

Zuhaer:

This is the Spartan Transfer Hub brought to you by Impact eighty nine FM and MSU Transfer Student Success Here's what we've got for you today.

Zuhaer:

Hi, everybody. Welcome back to the Spartan Transfer Hub, the podcast about all things related to MSU transfer students brought to you by MSU Transfer Student Success Center, also known as TSSC. I'm your host today, Zuhaer. I use he/him pronouns.

Zuhaer:

I'm an international student from Bangladesh. I am doing mechanical engineering and I'm a rising senior.

Zuhaer:

On this episode, we are going to talk about Envision Green, a collaborative program between MSU and Lansing Community College, LCC. In the studio with us today, we have two guests from Envision Green alongside TSSC's program coordinator and graduate assistant. Would you all be able to introduce yourselves and tell us a little bit about what you do at MSU or Envision Green?

Laura:

Hi, I'm Laura Wise. I'm the program director for Envision Green, and I'm also a current student doing a doctoral program and also a former DJ on the impact. So very happy to be back on the microphone with you.

Katie:

Hi everyone, my name is Katie Goble and I just finished my time at LCC and this fall I will be at MSU, basically a marketing major. It's actually really cool. I was able to help out with LCC side of the marketing for Envision Green and sort of helping to shape what the program looked like before I was even an Envision Green student. And this past fall, I officially joined Envision Green and have enjoyed my time. And so I'm really excited to be here to talk about it with you all today.

Lauren:

We're happy to have you here at MSU.

Katie:

Thank you. I'm excited.

Lauren:

My name is Lauren Sargent. I use the she her pronoun series. I am a rising second year in the student affairs administration master's program, and I am the graduate assistant for the transfer student success center.

Ashley:

Hi, I'm Ashley Hewlett Lemke. I use the she/her/hers series of pronouns, and I'm the program coordinator with the Transfer Student Success Center. I myself was a transfer student. I did not transfer from LCC, but I've certainly gotten to know LCC in this work. And, any Envision Green participants may have seen me at some of the, amazing events that Laura Wise has hosted over the past few semesters.

Ashley:

So looking forward to having our, stars who are now transitioning to become Spartans in the fall.

Zuhaer:

I assume that everybody here has traveled back and forth between LCC and MSU quite quite a lot. So I was kind of curious as to if I was going from LCC to MSU or MSU to LCC, like, along the route, I was wondering what are some of you guys' favorite coffee spots or somewhere you would go to grab a quick bite or a quick drink, if you guys could share that with me a little bit.

Katie:

I think mine would probably be Strange Matter Coffee. They have multiple locations. I know there's one right by LCC campus. There's also one here in the MSU Union. I love I just love the vibe of the place.

Katie:

It's the decor is so cool. It's LGBTQ plus owned, and it's just really a place where literally everyone is welcome and you just when you walk in there, you just immediately feel like, wow. This is the place I can have a cup of coffee or for myself. I'm a tea totaler, so have a cup of tea and, just enjoy your time.

Laura:

I think for me, because of the way that I go, I have an office at MSU and an office at LCC. So depending on which direction I go, I usually hit up Blue Owl. So both are great, but that's my my location, my go to.

Zuhaer:

Nice. Do you have a favorite drink or a go to drink over there or something?

Laura:

I don't know if they've released it for this summer yet, but they used to have this, like, espresso, fizz situation, which was I had not had before. So hopefully, they'll have it again this summer.

Zuhaer:

I hope so because that sounds good.

Lauren:

so for context, I am not from Midwest. I was born and raised in Florida and I had Biggby coffee for the first time yesterday and it was pretty good. Like, I'm a coffee connoisseur. I consider myself very into coffee. It was good coffee, which I wasn't expecting from, a bigger chain.

Katie:

I did not know Biggby was only in the Midwest. I'm gonna be completely honest.

Lauren:

I don't know if that's true. I just know that they don't I've never seen one in Florida. Like, that's Up here.

Zuhaer:

But Biggbys everywhere around here, though. Yeah. All overland.

Katie:

I thought it like, just a national thing everywhere, but we're glad to have you here in the Midwest.

Ashley:

Biggby's flagship store. May it rest in peace. It actually was torn down recently, but it was located just a stone's throw from campus. That actually is a local Greater Lansing area legend.

Ashley:

kind of all started in this community. Very exciting. I am going to actually pivot back. I'm not a huge coffee drinker. However, I am a big time donut eater and they have amazing donuts, vegan friendly, for the most part, mostly vegan items.

Ashley:

They have a lot of really good gluten free items as well, baked goods. And just a quick plug, so if you would like to sample, some Strange Matter, accoutrement, you are going to have those as an item, as a treat at the fall welcome transfer student event. So all of our incoming students will be able to sample some goodies from there. If it's not your first introduction, maybe it might be an introduction to a new flavor, and, we hope to see everybody there to try those out.

Zuhaer:

Nice. I feel like everybody who's listening in has to come to these events.

Katie:

Yeah. You have to.

Lauren:

I agree.

Zuhaer:

But I'm, like, so happy that out of, like, the five people here, at least three of them are strange matter friends because my answer is also strange matter. I am so obsessed with the Strange Matter at Union and also the Strange Matter that is down Michigan Avenue. Mhmm. But like Katie said, it's LGBTQ plus owned. It's women owned, and the vibes of the place are so nice.

Zuhaer:

Everybody's, like, all the workers, they're so friendly. It's a great spot to be. The coffee, the donuts, the matcha, everything. Big fan. Big fan.

Zuhaer:

So if you're listening in, this is us urging you to try Strange Matter. And for your convenience, we have one at MSU Union if you like it. So Yeah.

Ashley:

Fun fact. Strange Matter is owned by an MSU graduate.

Zuhaer:

Really? Wow.

Lauren:

Yeah. And if you have a meal plan with convos on campus, you can get any any kind of drink you want with a donut.

Ashley:

That's part of your cash exchange. Yeah. Yeah.

Zuhaer:

True. What surprised me that it's been around for, like, eleven to twelve years. I think it opened up in, like, 2014. So that's pretty crazy.

Katie:

Yep. It started We're giving them a bunch of free marketing.

Ashley:

You're welcome, Kara.

Zuhaer:

I'd like to transition over to talking about Envision Green. Laura, would you mind explaining to us a little bit about what Envision Green is?

Laura:

Yes. So Envision Green is a partnership between Michigan State University and Michigan based community colleges. And we've been focused on Lansing Community College because of course, that's right in the area. It's just a mile down the road. So really making sure that we nurture that relationship.

Laura:

And the largest number of transfer students come from LCC. So we saw that as a really important opportunity. And in a nutshell, it's really assisting LCC students to make the most of their time while they're at LCC and have the best of both worlds because we connect them with MSU as soon as they get to LCC. So that way they already start to see themselves as a Spartan but don't have to just skip over their time at LCC. So it's really trying to improve and support every step of the transfer journey from STAR to Spartan.

Zuhaer:

Wow. I think you guys are doing great work. I was curious as to how does Envision Green change the traditional transfer process?

Laura:

I would say that access is the biggest thing because the size of MSU is one of the things that makes it the most attractive and exciting in terms of all of the opportunities that are there. But certainly for a lot of students, there can be some uncertainty or thinking about how do I navigate that? Like, I enjoy LCC. I've successfully been working my way through here, but how do I get to MSU? And so Envision Green really makes it very easy to understand all of the steps for transferring.

Laura:

But more than that, you get to meet humans. Like, you get to put faces and names for academic support and meet one on one with admissions, have direct contact with them, and learn about support resources. So for instance, if students are using the Center for Student Access at LCC, then they can learn about the Resource Center for Persons with Disabilities at MSU or perhaps they were in the fostering stars program at LCC, then they can learn about FAME for, foster youth or former foster youth. So it really is this great bridge between the two institutions.

Zuhaer:

I feel like that's a really good initiative because of what you said first about the human aspect of communication. In my experience, I've always felt like emails or like texts and like online conversations like that sometimes might feel a little bit daunting, a little less personal than you would like it to be. So I appreciate the endeavor to make that sort of a human communication established between the upcoming transfer students and all. So that's great work, think.

Zuhaer:

So if an LCC student is interested in transferring to MSU, what benefits do they get if they join Envision Green?

Laura:

So that's a great question. And, I love the the word that you said in terms of join, like, how do I join? So when I started with the program, we really wanted to make sure it was as accessible to as many students as possible. So really once you engage with Envision Green, you have joined Envision Green. There's no formal process to joining.

Laura:

There's no cutoff. Essentially, you come to our events, if you take advantage of resources that we have. And so what that looks like, we offer two transfer success sessions every month, one in person and one virtual. And we've done those both at the Downtown Campus and East Campus. And when you're there, Envision Green has a transfer advisor coordinator.

Laura:

So shout out to Erika Espinosa who provides all of that advising support, because we know that students have a lot of anxiety understandably when they transfer of like, are my classes even gonna transfer? That's like the big question. And so she's able to meet with students right on-site at LCC's downtown campus and also does virtual appointments. So that's really the the most popular. And so once you've been to advising or those success sessions, and we have a lot of other events too that I can share more about, then you're in that network.

Laura:

And so you're added to our newsletter where you get a lot of information, invited to future events. We do outreach, just one on one outreach to ask like how are things going? And as the programs progress, we also have a section in the newsletter for admitted students. So really making sure that they have that bridge between Envision Green right to the Transfer Student Success Center.

Laura:

And as Ashley mentioned, she and Doctor Charles Jackson and Transfer Student Advisory Board members have been very involved in those events. And so those are some of those benefits.

Laura:

And at those transfer success sessions, there's also admissions, there's LCC advisor, the LCC transfer center. So I know it's a lot, but in one hour you get to meet all of those people and really learn exactly how to figure out if your classes are going to transfer, which you can go to www.transfer.msu.edu any day, twenty four hours a day. It's updated every single day.

Laura:

So you can figure out if your classes are going to transfer. But to finish up in terms of that quote unquote joining, we would love for you to join the Envision Green team. And you can do that by going to tinyurl.com/egjourney. And when you go there, that's our full website. So you can see our on-site walk in hours, book an appointment with Erika, and also you can sign up for our newsletter and get our direct email, from there.

Laura:

But that's just envisiongreen@msu.edu. So you don't have to wait. We even have high school students. We have parents, community members who are reaching out. So you can join, like, immediately, and you should just send us a message and follow us on Instagram.

Zuhaer:

Katie, would you have anything to add on that? And could you give us, like, an idea of how the Envision Green community kinda looks like?

Katie:

Yeah. Absolutely. So like Laura said, the Envision Green program is very accessible. So I think the first thing I did was I joined a transfer success session, and that's where I got to meet Adam from admissions, Erika from university advising, and I was able to have a separate meeting with her to sort of go over how my credits were going to transfer because any college student that's trying to transfer knows credit evaluations and transferring credits can just be super chaotic and tricky. So when you have that level of support, whether it's your first year at LCC, second year, when you have an advisor at MSU and it's kind of like pairing your LCC advisor and your MSU advisor and sort of both of them helping you coordinate what classes you're going to take.

Katie:

It just makes the whole process a lot easier. And then Erika ended up connecting me with Jennifer in the Comm Art Sci department, and so I was able to have deeper conversations with her about specific programs and different majors and she helped me officially choose a major at MSU. And then also just overall just coming to events and having the community like I have so many connections for MSU and I'm not even on campus yet. Like it's really crazy. Did not expect that.

Katie:

It started with Laura and then Adam and Erika and then meeting Ashley and then Doctor. Charles and even like students. Like I would come to events, anything from the Come to Campus event last fall, just anything. And I would meet other students currently at LCC preparing to transfer or students that were already at MSU. Some of them were on the transfer student advisory board and I was able to meet with them.

Katie:

We have like followed each other on Instagram, got phone numbers, we're I've made so many friends already and I'm not even on campus yet. And that I think kind of like Laura said, it humanizes the experience. It's more than just like sending emails back and forth, like you're meeting actual people and you're getting to come to campus. And I think it really just makes it a lot less overwhelming when you have someone like Laura or Erika whoever that you can go to ask a question, or you have friends that you're already making and like someone that's already at MSU, send them a text like, Hey, I'm curious about this. Can you give me a little more information?

Katie:

Like everyone is more than willing to help you on your journey. And I think it just makes the process a lot easier to navigate, but it also makes it a lot less overwhelming and sort of just removes the anxiety towards transferring because I think that's what can kind of hinder a lot of students. Like, they're like, is this the right decision? And, you know, just so many things happening during this transition period. It just really helps so much.

Katie:

And I think above all else, I am so proud to be part of the Envision Green community. It's just, I am someone that I think it's growing up in like a rural small town. Like I wanted to go to college at places where there was just a diverse group of people from all walks of life, different states, different countries, like I wanted it all. And that's kind of what Envision Green is, like it's all these students from different walks of life, you're coming together and you're sort of sharing in the struggle together so much, like within Envision Green you're not struggling as much of course, but like you're, you just have this community around you all the time. And it's just full of hardworking students that are passionate about their education.

Katie:

They, a lot of us chose to come to LCC or other community colleges first because of like financial reasons, or they just didn't have a sense of direction. Like I'm also a first gen student. Like, it was really chaotic for me. Like my senior year of high school, I didn't really know where I wanted to go. And, you know, a lot of other transfer students or other Envision Green students had that same experience.

Katie:

Like we made that decision to go to community college first and sort of dip our toes into the college experience and then choose a major. So just sharing that experience together is so special and I love to be part of this community.

Laura:

I just have to say that Katie has probably been like the Vision Green ambassador and champion. You know, I've even been able to meet family members who've also participated in events. And so she's been really instrumental in terms of helping to get feedback about, okay, you know, so many of our events were the first that we had done, and getting her feedback about what she really enjoyed and what we can improve, that's something I'm really looking forward to this next year. So if prospective students are listening to this, we are going to be looking for students to be part of an Envision Green advisory group. You're gonna help us come up with a name.

Laura:

So like, I know you're like, man, advisory group, I don't know if I wanna join that. So you're gonna help us think of a a way better name than that. But essentially, being able to really get feedback directly from students because it was from that feedback, you know, I'm really looking forward to this next year. We're trying to have even more academic, professional, social and support connections for students. So some of the ways that we did that this past year, we had undergraduate research day.

Laura:

And so we took students directly from LCC out to Michigan State to learn about the Pathway to Research program and get to see all of the opportunities for undergraduate research because we know that high impact practices are so important. And what I really love is that undergraduate research is for everyone. So arts and humanities, shout out to you. We love our STEM students, but I think sometimes arts and humanities are like, I don't know if that's for me. So really being able to elevate that.

Laura:

And then also we did a took students to an all major career fair, and we were really proud of that partnership because it was very much a partnership. So the LCC Career and Employment Services helped students with preparation for that career fair. They reviewed resumes, made sure they felt prepared, that they did some career exploration, and then MSU was able to open up their career fair prep session. So then students were able to participate in that. And then when we brought the LCC students over, which of Katie was also one of those students, they were able to meet with a peer mentor through career services and were able to kind of get the lay of the land.

Laura:

And so I I really think those are good examples of where students, first and foremost, they want to know, are my classes going to transfer? They want to know how they're going to apply. And that's another fantastic benefit of Envision Green is that they do prioritize reviewing applications that come through Envision Green for LCC transfer students. And the transfer team does prioritize looking at the transcripts from LCC. So I think that's a a major benefit.

Laura:

And so continuing to find ways to find out about your classes, find out how to apply, but then how can you make those more meaningful connections? That's definitely what we're there to do.

Zuhaer:

I really just wanna say how much I appreciate you guys having all this passion for the work that you do with Envision Green, and congratulations to Katie for being such a beacon in a program like that. Makes me a little bit envious as to why I can't be a part of it, but it's not about me. If there were other students at MSU who have transferred from LCC, how would they get involved in Envision Green? Are there opportunities to do that?

Laura:

100%. And I would say definitely if you were a former transfer student and you haven't heard of the transfer student advisory board yet, TSAB, highly recommend that you join them because Envision Green does send out invitations to them to attend our events. The most popular thing definitely has been student panels because we know that students want to hear from fellow students like Katie, not just the program managers or the staff, especially once they've got those basic questions answered. Right? So I think that that's a really great way to be involved, but certainly you could still send us an email envisiongreen@msu.edu

Laura:

And you're like, maybe I don't have time for a panel, but I would love to come back and talk with LCC students about my own journey and transferring. Also, you had an experience where you wish that there had been different support, maybe you have feedback about how we can improve the program or improve the transfer journey because we learn from those stories too. We always want to hear the celebrations, the great things, but if you have feedback, we're definitely open to that. So sharing your stories are super important.

Zuhaer:

Absolutely. I do agree with that. So listeners, whoever has transferred from LCC and haven't gotten involved in Envision Green yet, this is your sign. Do it. It sounds really exciting and I think you will have a great time.

Zuhaer:

So Laura, I wanted to ask a little bit about what your goals are with Envision Green. Like, do you think that it would always just be an MSU and LCC partnership or are you hoping to expand the partnership to other Michigan colleges in different areas as well?

Laura:

That's a really great question. Certainly when the program started, that is our vision to be able to support additional community college students at any community college in Michigan. So we are taking some steps, I would say, in partnership with the Transfer Student Success Center, just making sure that there are as many resources as possible for students to get the information that LCC students are getting. But I think also there's a lot of different ways that we can partner. And so we've been talking, having conversations, but definitely we hope to expand to other institutions in the future.

Zuhaer:

That also sounds really exciting. I hope that this mission expands much more because there's kids all around our beautiful state of Michigan that I hope can benefit from the initiative that you guys are planning. Katie, you're an Envision Green student who's starting MSU this fall. Correct?

Katie:

Yes.

Zuhaer:

So what would you say to students who are interested in transferring from LCC to MSU in terms of any advice, any tips?

Katie:

Absolutely. I think the number one tip I'd have is get involved. And Envision Green, like we've talked about, is very accessible and it just allows so many opportunities to do that. I know when I was originally, like, even in my first year at LCC, I was comparing colleges, you know, looking at the cost and looking at the campus size and campus life and different opportunities and majors, like I was trying to, you know, just figure it all out. You know, you kind of really have to shop around before you want to transfer because I mean, even if you're not going to be there for the four years, like you're still going to be there for at least two, maybe three, and so you want to make sure that it feels like a right fit.

Katie:

And one of the things for me that was honestly just made me feel really overwhelmed about MSU is just the size of it. It is so massive. And I was just like, oh, I don't know if I can handle this. Like, it's so big and there's always so much going on. But then honestly, my me going to LCC and being involved in clubs and having leadership positions and getting myself outside of my comfort zone time and time again, it helps me grow so much so to the point of now I'm like an eventaholic.

Katie:

I have to say no and it's very hard. I want to go to everything and do everything all the time. And so now I'm ready for MSU life. Like I am ready to get lost in this campus. Maybe not get lost like on the first day of classes when I'm trying to find my way.

Katie:

But just be in a place where there's just so many opportunities, so many events. And I know had I come to MSU right out of high school, there's no way that would have worked out. And so I'm grateful that I was able to have LCC as sort of like a stepping stone. And then to, like I said, dip my toes into the college experience and then now be ready for it. But yeah, so in terms of like any advice I would give students interested in transferring, like I said, get involved, come to MSU events, whether it's an Envision Green event or not, like you can literally just come to campus, like if you see an event that you're interested in, you don't have to go with Envision Green people, like you can just come yourself, say like, I'm interested in transferring here, No one's going to turn you away, like nobody bites here.

Katie:

We're all like really nice people and we want to have our students here. So yeah, come to events, try to honestly connect with any LCC students that are looking to transfer to MSU. Like I said, get their Instagram info, get their number, like chat with them and you can sort of learn together and grow together. That also is really special.

Laura:

I totally agree with what Katie is saying in terms of just try things out and just make connections. So we actually connected with an early college program at a local high school, and the student wanted to go into vet med and wanted to work with horses. And they wondered about the MSU Rodeo Club and, like, could they already get involved? And I was definitely like, I know nothing about the Rodeo Club, but I will find out. And sure enough, they wrote back and said, you don't need to be a current MSU student.

Laura:

You can get involved. We're having a rodeo this weekend. Come and volunteer. And so I think that's a really good example of Envision Green assist students not only with the academic and professional side, but also the social side. So that's just one example.

Laura:

I've had other students who have reached out with specific questions about registered student organizations. And another way that we've promoted those social connections has been promoting the TEMPO program to envision green students as well. And I know that Katie was fortunate to be a part of that as well.

Katie:

Yeah. And that is something that I have loved to be a part of. I was paired so basically the tempo program is a mentorship program for transfer students. And so you're paired with a peer mentor, which that has been really helpful for me because my they're really good about pairing students together. So my mentor was registered through RCPD and he helped me navigate that process, which again was a really big help with that.

Katie:

And there's also weekly gathering spaces where you can, it's for like current LCC students and current MSU students that are part of that program. You can come and they always have food and there you can play games and hang out. It's again just a way to build a support system, build a community, make friends, get involved on campus, even something as simple as like gathering in a room and playing games like that is you, that's how you make memories. And that those are some of the memories that you're going to look back on from your college years. And so I'm excited to like be on campus this year and be a part of that and then one day be a mentor myself.

Katie:

So it's just really a program where it allows you to get involved, it allows you to meet people and honestly grow as a person, grow as a student and gain those leadership skills. You can end up working your way up to being a mentor. There's so many opportunities with that as well.

Zuhaer:

Shout out to MSC Rodeo Club, which is a great club. And shout out to our friends in Tempo, shout out to our friends in Tempo who we had for our last episode for Spartan Transfer Hub. You can check that episode out wherever you find this episode. Now, Katie, what would you say is one of your favorite bits or parts of being involved within Vision Green?

Katie:

Yeah, it is so hard to choose, but I would have to say probably the inaugural come to campus event. I was so honored to be the first cohort of students within the program to come to that. So basically what that was is it was a way to get LCC students physically on MSU campus and thank goodness they provided transportation. Anyone knows driving through MSU campus can be scary, especially when you're not super familiar with it. And so that can honestly sometimes be like one of the biggest things like trying to find parking and all that that was taken care of.

Katie:

They provided transportation, I think Laura you were my driver. Sure was. Yeah, that was fun. And so yeah, I got us on campus and we were able to talk with the transfer student advisory board, students that are on that. And that in and of itself was really helpful because when you are literally sitting in front of those students who have the lived experience of transferring to MSU and you're able to ask them any question you want, whether it's about housing, whether it's about parking, whether it's about clubs, anything.

Katie:

That was really helpful as well and I know I was talking with Aesha so much, just off the record, like we were just, I made a new friends, like, and that's why I say come to events like that's how you make friends. And then we also got to eat at Philip Snyder, the gallery. So like, again, just right. Yeah. Isn't the gallery awesome?

Katie:

Loved it. Like getting to see what the dining experience is like, like for myself, like I've never been to university before. I've never I don't even think I'd been in a dining hall at a college. So even that like removes anxiety because first day of classes comes up or move in day comes up, I've already been in a dining hall. I already have that experience.

Katie:

It's just little things like that where you get yourself on campus, you get involved, you meet people, try new things, have those new experiences, and you are so much prepared for when move in day comes. You're like, I already got this down. I've been in a dining hall. I can navigate this part of campus and that part of campus really well. It's really helpful.

Katie:

And overall, it was just a really fun day. We also got to have a tour of campus. And that I think also is when I realized like my time at MSU can be as big or small as I want to make it. Like I can, like I'm living in Owen, so I could, you know, be have just the River Trail neighborhood be where I stay, or I could venture out and explore other places like it can be as big or small as I want it to be. And that event really helped me in my transfer process and understand the process a little bit better and just feel more confident that I was making the right decision.

Katie:

And honestly, I just fell in love with campus and all the people. And I was like, there's no way I'm not transferring here. I love it too much.

Zuhaer:

Katie, you made a lot of good points, and I wanna emphasize a little bit about how important it is to, like you said multiple times, getting involved in all these events. So I urge all of our listeners to do it as much as I can. I've shared in previous episodes about how much it gave me exposure to different different paths of life of different people, making new friends, getting new opportunities to get involved with MSU. So definitely do that as well as the dining halls are immaculate. The food is some of the best food I've ever had, so please do go to the dining halls.

Zuhaer:

You'll make tons of friends. You'll have a good you'll have a good time for sure. Now right before we are about to wrap it up for today, I wanted to ask if Laura and Katie, you guys had any final thoughts, any final tips or advice that you wanted to share before we exit today?

Laura:

Definitely. Well, again, just want to thank Katie for for being so involved and being a great champion of Envision Green, but also just as a transfer student, being able to advocate for transfer students, and I know that she'll continue to be a leader on campus. I also want to shout out my Lansing community college partners, the success coaches out there, the academic advisors, all of the leadership, all of the folks that are in the star zone. Everyone has been so welcoming, so supportive, and that really has made all the difference, is them being so welcoming and really wanting the partnership to succeed. So I really want to give a ton of credit to them for how how wonderful the partnership has been and especially the LCC transfer center as well.

Laura:

But, again, I just wanna say that there's no special application. Just join us. So just go to tinyurl.org/egjourney. And, it's not too soon. If you're a community member, if you're working at a school, if you're a family member, if you're an elementary school student and you're already, like, onto your podcast, like you're already thinking, no matter where you are, we are ready to share with you and, also grow with you.

Laura:

So just very excited to meet all of the new stars this fall.

Katie:

Yeah. And Laura, I mean, I've had the perspective up until now, honestly, of being an LCC student and being in that community meeting with success coaches and academic advisors. And for anyone listening, like if you are a current LCC student, I cannot advise this enough. Everyone at MSU is just as welcoming, just as kind, just as supportive as everyone at LCC. And so literally to get involved in Envision Green, all you have to do is register for a transfer student success session.

Katie:

Have that be your first step. You can join, I think it's on Zoom or something. You can join with your camera off. Like it's so informal. There's not much you have to do.

Katie:

You just listen to some presentations. They give you an opportunity to ask questions. Like it is very low stress. So just like I said, get involved. I mean, I know I'm a huge eventaholic, but like seriously, get involved, try to push yourself outside of your comfort zone because you'll be surprised at how much you can accomplish and just be part of this Envision Green community.

Katie:

It's wonderful.

Zuhaer:

Thank you, Laura and Katie, so much for joining us today and having a conversation with us. With that, we are going to wrap up this episode of the Spartan Transfer Hub. If you wanna hear more of our episodes, please be sure to tune in on the Impact eighty nine website as well as Spotify or Apple Podcasts or wherever you can find us. Go green.
